Bare with me, I'm not a native speaker. I apologize for weird phrasing in advance.
I have a setup with an L3 switch (2x FS S5800 in MLAG domain) with the following connections: * uplink to router & internet (2x Edgerouter Infinity with VRRP) * vmhost with multiple VMs on multiple VLANs * distribution switches (FS S3900) with multiple VLANs, matching the VLANs on the vmhosts
it looks like this (simplified): click
What I want to do is terminate the VLANs on the L3 switch, still L2 switching the related VLANs but at the same time offering a L3 interface for each VLAN to route to the router.
I don't quite understand how. Obviously if I set the distribution switch facing interface as L3, I lose the VLANs. Can I set the interface connecting to the router as L3, thus keeping the VLAN switching intact within the switch and yet routing packets meant for WAN through the router?
