Our company does and always has hidden our SSIDs "for security reasons." I am not a fan of this, not only because it provides negligible security but also because I believe it is causing some roaming issues with our wireless phones. Whenever I bring up the idea of broadcasting our SSID I'm met with resistance "for security reasons" and "that's the way we've always done it." I've seen casual comments on here from time to time that say if you want to hide your SSID go for it and then I've also seen comments that say there is absolutely no benefit of hiding an SSID and that it may actually make things worse. Google has returned mixed results as well and most information is written by an average Joe. I'd like to know if there is a published industry standard best practice or any other quality published material that I can reference to sway my team's opinion. Or maybe I'm the one that is wrong. Either way.
