Looking for new firewall options for a client. We have narrowed the list to Palo Alto and Cisco FTD. Gartner and NSS list Palo as significantly more effective and I have heard that the FTD solution is quite immature at the moment but wanted to get some additional opinions. I had personal (and very bad) experience with Palo Alto about 4 years ago with an enterprise client and could not get them running correctly in firewall mode. Palo support was total garbage and couldnt get them working either. The client actually ended up purchasing Cisco ASA's and using the Palo Alto's in v-wire mode behind them. That being said, time has passed and the Palo's are still all the rage. I am admittedly a Cisco loyalist and their support cant be beat, but the apparent state of the FTD solution according the various blogs, and reviews, leaves me concerned that purchasing the Cisco solution could be a mistake. Please convince me either way. Thanks!
