I am planning to run an upgrade on a Catalyst 3750 stack.
I am wondering if someone can double check my upgrade procedure. The stack consists of a few 3750G-48PS switches (32 MB flash) and a few 3750G-12S switches (16 MB flash). The challenge is that some employees use the web management interface occasionally. The 12S switches do not have enough flash for that image.
- Manually transfer the web image to the stack master (3750G-48PS). Extract this and update the boot variable.
- Use
Session x archive download-sw tftp://<non-web image, or web image depending on switch model>.binto replace the image on the other switches in the stack (they do no have enough memory even for two images, so it will need to be hot replaced. The hope here is to save a few manual steps of clearing the flash each time and updating the boot variable manually. - Confirm all the boot variables are correct
- Reload the stack
Will this work? The documentation says you can only use the archive command on the stack master, so I am not sure how this will pan out. If not, I will just go through each switch one at a time, deleting the current image from flash, extracting the new image from TFTP, setting the boot variable, and at the end I will reload the entire stack.
After this I will be doing one that has the same models but also a 3750-X in the stack. I assume that there will not be many issues with that.
