Hi,
We are getting ready to do a big change in our network, right now we are mainly connecting via a couple of tier 2 providers, but soon we'll be getting dark fiber deployed to a Carrier hotel, and it would be really useful to have some first hand opinions before we sign any contract.
The Carrier hotel has like 50 providers available. Most of them are local providers, or some national providers we may be forced to buy BW from, as they control a huge percentage of the end user access network, and they no way do free peering agreements (BTW, we are based in Barcelona, Spain) but I guess that happens in any other country.
So, in order not to bother you with providers you may not know I shortened the list to these well known providers:
- Cogent
- GTT
- Hurricane Electric
- Interoute (Which I think has been acquired by GTT ?)
- Level 3
- NTT
- TATA
- Telia
We want to select 4 of them, and then try to get a 1gbps over 10G burstable at a reasonable price from each. For what I've seen, looks like HE is super cheap -already got an offer from them- and so is Cogent, but I'm also seeing Telia, NTT or TATA are supposed to be quite better...
So, what would be your racking, choice, recommendation or advice... ? (Even if it's just "Won't touch provider N even with a 10 foot pole")
Thanks!
