Closet Setup

Hello

I wanted to get some input from other networking folks on how you prefer to setup new closets. I came into my role when the old network guy ended up moving into a higher up managerial role. He is my boss now and tends to think the way he has been doing things is the only way and I should follow suit. I setup new closets every year or so and they tend to just be 1-2 switches, UPS, PDU, and some security equipment .Most of these rooms are 6'x8' at most. The format I am expected to use is depicted in the picture below:

The idea is that all adjustments are made on the patch panel at the wall rather than messing with things in the network rack. It honestly seems to me to be a bit excessive. How do you do things? Do you bring the house wiring right into a patch panel on the rack? Do you do it similar to this except have patch 2 in the rack? Just trying to get some ideas and see what other options are out there that I have not thought of. Thanks for the read and your thoughts!
