We have a client branch solution which has a DSL line as the primary communication device with 3G/4G interfaces as the backup. All routers are Cisco 1921.
3G/4G backup should kick in the following situations:
- DSL interface goes down (dialer interface).
- IP SLA times out.
- DSL dialer interface loses its IP address.
Sometimes the 3G/4G backup does not kick in (note that configurations have been tested and there are 2-3 templates accross the entire infrastructure). However everything works fine after a reboot.
We have explained to the customer that there are some branches with really bad signal coverage which results to the backup link not being able to establish.
The issue looks like the old days which a mobile phone would complain that "SIM card is not inserted" at random and in order to fix that, you had to reboot the phone.
