If I'm selecting a core switch for a new building, and the size and configuration of the building is similar to another building that we have, how can I compare the actual performance stats from that building with the specs given on switch datasheets?
If you're given a 'System Switching Throughput' figure of 400Mpps - how can you compare that with any figures you can actually retrieve from a running device?
I have Statseeker and Extreme Management Center pointed at the device I want to compare with, but I don't think there's any figures available that allow an easy comparison.
We are concerned both with selecting a device that can handle the traffic load, and with not overspending on something that is much more powerful than required.
