I hope this thread is allowed here even though it is career advice , it isnt totally beginner advice..
So i work in the DoD contracting space of networking but as many you know , this means im not working with the latest greatest and limited to a lot of things that im allowed to do in the network (automation, python) . I was considering switching to commercial/private sector after 1 more year at my current company. My fear is that i wont be paid as much (i get paid a lot for my actual experience) and that i probably wont meet a lot of their requirements. Im half way through my ccnp and planning to brush up on linux/aws after..
For those of you who transitioned out of dod contracting , how did you go about it? Was there significant pay cut? How did you deal with all the red tape when you were contracting ?
