RIP Convergence with Administrative shutdown

Hi all,

I have a simple question really:

Imagine we have 3 routers in a ring topology, traffic only gets sent one way unless a link goes down

If we pull the cable out of one router it takes RIP 4 minutes to flush, if I administratively shutdown the interface instead of pulling the cable, will convergence occur immediately?
