EIGRP Stub Networks with Redundant Routers

Greetings. I am learning about stub networks and have run across a question. Please reference the following network design:

I understand that stub networks can be used to simplify the configuraton and operation of a branch router. However, in this case we have two routers at the same branch. Stub_1001 and Stub_1002 each have a connection to a different upstream router and a connection into the branch. How do I configure these in stub mode so that they can reliably route traffic in the event of a failover?

It's likely that my problem is that I simply don't understand stub mode thoroughly enough, but I don't see how this can work without making the setup more complicated again. Can someone give me some insight here?
