I am in a peculiar situation. I know that the 2960x can provide 30 watts of PoE on a specific port, but I have been unable to prove it.
One of our partners has devices that require more than 15 watts of power. I have configured his ports with the following command:
(config-if)# power inline static max 30000
The #show power inline command does show the ports using 30 watts. However, if I test one of the ports with my cable tester, the tester only show the port giving 15 watts of PoE.
I tested my cable tester on a Brocade PoE+ switch, and it did show the ports giving around 25 watts each. Is there something different with the 2960x? Does your cable tester also show 15 watts in your 2960x switches even when they are configured for 30 watts? If yes, how could I prove that everything is OK with my switches?
